The water looked dark at 7PM because there was some cloud cover blocking the evening sun.

The lifeguards were just ending their shift, and there were hardly any people in the water. A few paddleboarders in the distance. My friend came with me, and I had an extra swim cap for her. She normally doesn’t wear one, but then I can’t see her when we swim in different directions. I like being able to see my swim buddies.

The water felt cold, but I was still eager to get in and move. Too much stress this week. And the week before, and so on, and so on. There were fairly large and regular waves from motorized boats in the distance. I’m used to it, but I’m also a big tired of it.

The poor lake feels a bit traumatized. There’s been too much boat traffic, imo. The lake needs a rest. The milfoil looks a bit frenzied and discolored. There are globs of green weeds on the shore. There are hundreds of clumps of lake weed and milfoil floating in the water.

I saw a few fish when I got in the water. Yea. They were about five inches long, not like the gigantic fish I saw the other day. Those fish were huge, at least 18” long. First I saw one, then I swam back into the shallower water to find it again. By then it had a buddy. I tried to follow them for a few seconds, then realized that maybe it wasn’t a nice thing to do. Be free, guys.

Today’s fish were a bit disappointing after seeing the huge fish. Why haven’t they grown more? Or are they full size?

I swam into the deeper water, then decided to go around the cement dock. After I made it around the north end of the dock I swam south toward the boat launch. The milfoil is very tall along this stretch of water, so I was eager to get past it. I don’t like feeling it rub against me. On the other side of the swim area there’s a large area of water that’s either deeper or just has fewer milfoil plants. I like swimming there because I don’t have to be so vigilant about my safety.

There were a few paddle boarders nearby, but I still had a nice wide area for swimming. I swam out for a little bit, then I isolated my legs with some flutter kicking with my arms at my sides. Then I turned around and swam back to the swim area. I went under the rope and swam across the swim area and back. I swam back to the dock and stopped at three sides, using the pull-up bars to do 10 pull-ups on each bar. Note to self: do this every time. I am a bit horrified by my old lady arms. Not horrified enough to do anything about it, but water pull-ups are the least I should be doing.

I got out of the water and showered, then changed into my clothes. As we walked to the parking lot there was a dickhead doing donuts in the lot. Really bored with all the morons who populate the park in the summer. No respect.

But I’m not gonna let that guy’s small dick energy ruin my good swim.
