The U-shaped dock is ideal because it creates a safe, enclosed place for the kiddie and a place for swimmers to enter the water. I love that they have a ramp for helping people in wheelchairs get into the water.

The water felt soft and silky on my skin. I swam back and forth, parallel to the beach. The water was hazy, a sage green color, with brownish tinge on the bottom and yellowish tinge closer to the surface.

My host and I agreed that the lake we went to the other day is special. It’s more remote and intimate. The scene is more dramatic with the massive rock you have to navigate to reach the dock, and the massive white wind thingies in the background are sort of a cool contrast to the green trees, farmland.

I like swimming in this opaque water. I don’t have to worry about lake weeds or creatures cause I can’t see them. It’s like another level of sensory deprivation, and I like it. I swam a meditation today, focusing on my exhales in my snorkel, which sound like a weak imitation of Darth Vader’s breathing.

There were a few large birds sitting on a rock out in the deep water, and I thought of swimming out to them, but changed my mind. I was tired and wanted to keep it simple, so I swam back and forth, taking a few breaks to try my new stroke, the recumbent bike. Eventually, curiosity got the better of me, and I did swim towards the birds. When I pulled up to sight, they were gone. That has been my experience with birds and ducks here. They really aren’t interested in me.

Yesterday there were ducks paddling around in the kiddie area, but by the time I got in the water they were on the shore, getting ready for their next activity.

I saw from the water that two people had arrived on the beach. They must have done a quick dip because I didn’t see them swimming, but I saw them after my swim when I was taking photos. I wasn’t sure how to record the sound of the lake today because it didn’t make a sound where the lake reached the beach. It was that still.

I am exhausted now after two days of swimming in a row. I have to give a talk about my project on Friday, so I’m gonna to look for an HMDI to USB-C adapter.

Thank you, lake.

Today ate the lake, the water was chilly and flat.
